War On Deforestation

CAMDEN USA, Dec. 09 - All people on earth should be alarmed by the deforestation of the world's Rain Forest. Extinction of many of the world's species and changes in our global climate are the result of deforestation. If the current rate of deforestation is not stopped, the world's rainforest WILL BE GONE. This will cause the elimination of most of the plant and animal species on our planet.

Poor farmers chopping down a few acres to grow something to eat is a sensitive problem to deal with. The people that are interested in the future of the planet for future generations can fight commercial logging.

However, The people that are fighting commercial logging on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada are a good example to start with. Difference being in order to save the world's rain forest for future generations, the war against deforestation in what remains of the world's rain forest, MUST be much more aggressive and much better organized.

In South America 21,000 square miles, the size of North Carolina in the USA, is being deforested every year. Most of this is in the Amazon Basin. South East Asia ( Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Burma, Thailand, and Vietnam ) lost 4800 square miles per day since the mid 1970s to the mid 1980s. The uncontrolled criminal plundering continues in West Africa. European and other markets are being flooded with wood products that have been harvested in West Africa in destructive and illegal ways. The Oriental Timber Corporation and the Societe Forestere Hazim MUST be confronted and defeated by the governments of Liberia and Cameroon for flagrant disregard for forestry laws, and for the social and environmental impact of their operations!

The situation in West Africa is indicative of the crisis facing most of our world's remaining ancient forest. Out of control industrial logging by organized criminal timber groups that do not care about the remaining ancient rain forest accept to line their own pockets try to satisfy the impossible world hunger for timber, that threatens most of the world's remaining forest wild lands.

Unless Action is taken by the countries that are having their rain forest raped for criminal scumbags, and well as the countries receiving the timber, the Remaining large and intact ancient forest are going to perish from the earth.

The world's governments must take immediate action to stop importing wood derived from the destruction of the world's remaining ancient forest. The global logging industry must be forced to clean up its act and those that refuse to do so shut down and/or their principle beneficiaries imprisoned for their dastardly acts.
